Java Cultural Workshop

REALIA INDONESIAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL:
Realia provides intensive language classes for students studying Indonesian. Lessons include basic introduction and conversation, discussions about Yogyakarta, teenage life styles and school, village life, an introduction to colloquial Bahasa Indonesia and differences between spoken and written Indonesian. Students participate inexcursions to local schools and villages.

HOMESTAYS: Indraloka and Puri Anggraini Homestay provide a unique opportunity for school groups to stay with an Indonesian family in a large guest home. This is not a one-to-one situation, as with some homestay arrangements. However, students and teachers can enjoy eating with the family and possibly helping with food preparation. These two large guest homes hold a maximum of 18-20 guests each. Rooms are twin or triple share with private facilities. Theses arrangements have proven to be excellent for groups wishing to experience family life in Yogyakarta.

Hotel accommodation in Yogyakarta is available on request. For a group size of 20 plus, 2 Homestays need to be used.

* BALI HAI CRUISE
Today cruise aboard a luxury catamaran to Lembongan Island. Throughout the day participate in activities such as swimming, pool volleyball, glass-bottom and banana boat rides, snorkelling, an excursion to a local village, or simply relaxing. Also included are morning and afternoon teas, snacks and a BBQ lunch. Optional additional activities include introductory scuba diving, parasailing and semi-submersible coral viewer. Truly, Bali at its best.

* WATERBOM PARK
Bali's only water park, set in landscaped tropical gardens in the heart of Kuta, provides a range of activities including: 5 water slides, pool, the lazy River, table tennis, sand and water volleyball, badminton and boules. Australian-trained lifeguards are on duty at all times. Spend as long or as short of time as you wish.

* ELEPHANT SAFARI PARK
Located in the jungle forest of Desa Taro, 40 minutes north of Ubud, this park provides groups with the opportunity of seeing elephants in their natural surroundings. Students may enjoy a safari ride and feed the elephants. Personal insurance included.
* BALI BIRD PARK
Visitors have the opportunity to encounter rare and remarkable birds from every corner of the earth is lush tropical surroundings and natural enclosures. Rare Komodo Dragons also make their home here.

Itinerary
DAY 1
AUSTRALIA - DENPASAR - YOGYAKARTA Depart Australia on Garuda Indonesia flight to Denpasar. Transfer to a domestic flight for Yogyakarta. On arrival in Yogyakarta the group will transfer to Indraloka Homestay or alternative hotel for accommodation.
DAY 2
LESSON 1 - BATIK At 8:00 am begin your Batik lesson which will include designing, drawing and finishing by removing the wax in boiling water. The lesson takes approximately 5 hours and the Batik can be taken home. Snack will be provided. The afternoon is for your own activities.
DAY 3
LESSON 2 - GAMELAN AND DANCE ACTIVITIES Visit the Cultural School to learn Gamelan orchestra and Javanese traditional dance. Continue with a half day city tour featuring the Sultan's Palace, the Museum, silverworks and a Wayang puppet performance at the leatherworks. This evening enjoy a Ramayana ballet performance.
DAY 4
LESSON 3 - POTTERY After breakfast enjoy a trip to Kasongan - a village known for its Earthenware and ceramic handicrafts. Here students will practise making pottery. Lessons will take approximately 3 hours. Snack will be provided. In the afternoon visit the stunning Borobudur Temple Complex.
DAY 5
LESSON 4 - COOKING In the morning visit the local market by Andong. Purchase items for a cooking lesson at Indraloka. Students will make their own meals for lunch. In the afternoon visit Prambanan, the biggest and the most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia. Afterwards there will be free time for shopping in Jalan Malioboro accompanied by students from a local high school.
DAY 6
YOGYAKARTA - KUTA After breakfast transfer to airport for your flight to Denpasar. On arrival transfer to the Kuta Beach Club (or similar).
DAY 7
KUTA Today is set aside for activities as directed by your teachers (day use of hotel room until 6:00 pm). In the evening transfer to the airport for your flight to Australia.
DAY 8
AUSTRALIA Morning arrival in Australia.
