AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF INDONESIAN LANGUAGE EDUCATORS

The purpose of the Australian Society of Indonesian Language Educators (ASILE) Conference is to bring together teachers of Indonesian of all levels in schools and universities to discuss innovative teaching practice and the latest developments in the study of Indonesian language and culture.

The emphasis is on sharing methods, materials, and information which will enhance and broaden the teaching and learning of Indonesian language and culture in Australia. 

The conference will be held at The University of Melbourne on 10-12 July 2001. 

Call for Papers

We are calling for papers for presentation at the conference. Papers can be presented either in English or Indonesian. The following themes are proposed: 

Teaching Resources and Strategies
Existing and alternative teaching materials and assessment strategies 
Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education; continuity between the levels 
The use of IT and multimedia inside and outside the classroom

Indonesian Language and Society 
Research in Indonesian language and linguistics 
Literature and the media in Indonesia
Links between language, culture, and society

Cultural Exchange and In-Country Programs
Types of In-country programs, their advantages and disadvantages 
Cultural exchange within Australia 

Other topics 
Abstracts on topics other than the above themes are also very welcome
